Former teacher used daughter's Social Security number to open credit

Rebecca Jean Ferguson, a 41 year old former Spring Mills Middle School teacher, will serve five years in prison after pleading guilty to stealing her daughter's identity n order to obtain credit cards.

Fergusonwas sentenced by Judge Christopher Wilkes of the West Virginia 23rd Circuit Court on eight felony counts of identity theft. She will serve two of the counts under incarceration, while the other six will be served on probation for a period of five years each.

Ferguson is also awaiting trial on 11 counts of child abuse, and has to pay $10,942.74 in restitution. Ferguson used her then-teenaged daughter's social security number to open eight revolving credit accounts.
