Governor appoints Combs to State education board

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Tina H. Combs to the West Virginia Board of Education. She replaces Jenny Phillips who resigned earlier this month. The appointment is effective immediately.

Combs has served as President and CEO of the Martinsburg- Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. She is a past chairwoman of Blue Ridge Community and Technical College Board of Governors, and she has served as the treasurer of the Berkeley County Business Education Partnership. She has also served as the president of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executives and was a chairwoman of Region VII Workforce Investment Board.

Combs, a Berkeley County resident, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Development from Mountain State University. She also holds a Certificate in Community Economic Development from Virginia Institute for Economic Development at Virginia Tech, and a Certificate for Nonprofit Organization Management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
