Shepherd Falls in The National Semifinals
10 December 2016 Local Sports
On a cold Saturday (12.10) afternoon at Ram Stadium, over 7,000 fans watched a defensive battle that ended with North Alabama beating Shepherd 23-13 to earn a trip to the National Championship game for the first time since winning three in a row back in 1993, ’94 and ’95. Shepherd opened the game with a 79 yard scoring drive to lead 7-0, but never found the endzone again as the Lions defense held the Rams to 2 field goals the rest of the way. Meanwhile, North Alabama got things rolling to take a 20-10 lead at the half, but scored only a 4th quarter field goal in the 2nd half. North Alabama (11-1) has now won 11 in a row, while Shepherd ends the season at 13-1.
