Natural Gas Business for Berkeley County?

November 14th, 2012

A consulting firm for the Berkeley County Inland Port Coalition reported at Tuesday’s meeting that an inland port is not a feasible idea, because so many inland ports already open for business are not making money.

It was suggested, however, that Berkeley County could become a center for the refueling of the ever-expanding fleet of natural gas-fueled vehicles.

A refueling station in Berkeley County would allow companies to run trucks from Atlanta, Georgia to Boston, Massachusetts. Many companies are switching to natural gas, because natural gas costs $1.25 a gallon, as opposed to $4 a gallon for diesel.

A followup meeting is scheduled for November 27th.
