
Martinsburg Wins Region 2 Baseball Title

In a wild game at Bruce Davidson Field on Friday (5.25) evening, Martinsburg rallied late for a 13-10 win over Washington to claim the AAA Region 2 Baseball Championship for the 1st time since winning the State Championship in 2009. The Bulldogs led 5-1, before Washington tied it at 5 in the bottom of the 5th. In the top of the 6th, Martinsburg went back in front 8-5, only to see the Patriots score 5-runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 10-8 lead. In the top of the 7th The Dogs took the lead for good scoring 5-runs of their own. Ashton Staubs hit a pair of home runs for Martinsburg. Grant Harman got the win in relief. The Bulldogs now join St Albans, Hurricane and Wheeling Park at the State Tournament in Charleston next Thursday (5.31).
